Think crispy pork belly in a spaghetti aglio e olio. Super easy meal that only takes 10 MINUTES. Oh, and did I mention the reason I picked this pasta was because it reminded me of ramen?
My love for pork belly came from grilling those delicious samgyeopsal (pork belly in Korean) during KBBQ dinners. It’s rich, meaty, melts in your mouth, and has a crispy exterior. I honestly think it tastes even better than bacon (don’t come at me). That’s why it’s the perfect addition to pasta.
Yes, we’re doing another east vs. west dish today.
When I saw this pasta at the grocery store, I knew I HAD to get it and make something with it. It was actually my first time seeing this type of pasta and it reminded me of ramen instantly because of the spirals. It’s chewy and holds onto sauce well. I think I’ve found a new favourite type of pasta.
Make sure to cook the pork belly until it’s crispy, or else it won’t be as satisfying! You can also make this with other types of pasta, or even ramen.

Garlicky Pork Belly Pasta
Ingredients
- 2 servings of pasta of your choice (I am using Fusilli Col Buco)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 300 g pork belly (cut into 1/2 inch pieces)
- Salt & Pepper
- 6 garlic cloves (sliced very thinly)
- 1 shallot (sliced thinly)
- 1 tbsp garlic powder
- 1 tbsp chili flakes
- 3 tbsp white wine
- 3 tbsp parmesan cheese, plus more for serving
- 1 tbsp green onion (chopped)
Instructions
- Cook pasta according to package instructions.
- In a bowl, season the cut pork belly with salt and pepper. Let it sit for 10 minutes.
- In a large pan over high heat, add in 1 tbsp of the oil. Once the oil is heated, cook the pork belly until it’s browned on both sides. Add in the garlic, shallot, garlic powder and chili flakes. Stir fry everything together until the pork belly is crispy.
- Add in cooked pasta and white wine. Mix everything together with tongs until the wine has evaporated. Then, add in the remaining 1 tbsp of olive oil, parmesan and green onion. Mix well and season with salt and pepper if necessary. Serve and enjoy!
