Hi, I’m Lillie, the owner of this diary, and I’m so glad you’re here!
You’re looking at the recipe developer, photographer, videographer, cook, editor, and writer behind Dear Nom Diary. It’s a one-woman show here.
When did it all start? I remember when I was around 13, I was home alone and HUNGRY. I then proceeded to cook the first thing I ever did in my life on my own: a bowl of instant noodles with a fried egg on the side. Simple, yet fulfilling.
I’m not a professional cook, I’m just someone who loves food and enjoys cooking a lot. When you make your own meals, you have the freedom and creativity to be in control and add your own flair. To be a “good cook”, you have to be a good foodie first, which is why I’m a huge foodie who always loves to try new things. I like to think of food as art, you pour your heart and time into something and you try to create it in the best way you can, and when your final product gets presented beautifully, THAT is art my friends, which gives me a sense of accomplishment.
The food I make here on Dear Nom Diary are inspired by my culture, family recipes, foods I’ve eaten during my travels, and a lot of experiments in my kitchen growing up. Whether you are an aspiring cook, experienced cook, or just someone who’s hungry, I hope you will enjoy the food I make as much as I do. Remember, ANYONE can cook, and once you start, you’ll realize that it’s actually a fun and creative process and you’ll be so proud of your final product.
