I always want fresh homemade bagels, but at the same time, sometimes I feel like there’s too many steps and it takes too long. THEREFORE… 2 ingredient bagels is the answer!
Now, I know what you’re thinking as you go over the ingredient list, don’t come at me and say, “tHaT’s NoT 2 iGrEdIeNtS!” Well… technically it is 2 ingredients (the dough I mean), the salt is optional, but I would still totally recommend it.
I had a conversation with a friend the other day about self rising flour. They had no clue what it was, as they had never seen/heard about it in their life. I was surprised, but at the same time, I understood why they’ve never seen it, it’s because they don’t go to the grocery store often! I always see this product in the baking supplies aisle, and so one day, I decided to purchase it. As it says on the package, it already has baking powder and salt (sometimes) added into it. Therefore, you can just use this without adding baking powder when making scones, muffins, quick breads, pancakes, and quick easy recipes like this one. Ah, the wonders of self rising flour.
You won’t believe how ridiculously easy it is to make these bagels. Soft and bread-like on the inside, while having a slight crunch on the outside. I also ONLY recommend having them warm for the best texture. If your bagels have hardened, place a damp paper towel on top of the bagels and pop it in the microwave for 15 seconds. Soft bagels once again.
Ingredients

- 1 cup thick greek yogurt
- Pinch of sea salt
Coating:
- 1 egg
- Everything bagel seasoning
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, salt, and greek yogurt. Lightly flour a surface and knead the dough for about 5 minutes. Roll the dough into a ball.
3. Divide the dough into 4 sections with a knife and shape each section into a ball. Make a hole in the centre of each ball and gently stretch the dough to shape them into bagels.
4. In a small bowl, whisk the egg. Generously brush it over the bagels.
5. Sprinkle the everything bagel seasoning on top.
6. Bake for 20 minutes in the oven or until lightly browned. Slice in half and enjoy it with some butter, cream cheese, or anything you like!
